An Evening with the Stars
Dear Patrons,
We are a little breathless after our series of concerts in Los
Angeles and San Diego last weekend. Even though we had spent
months rehearsing with our star soloists, nothing could have
prepared us for the awe-inspiring artistry they displayed during
the concerts. The orchestra was also a surprise, playing with
a new maturity and richer texture. Lastly, we were astounded by
your response. Over 900 people attended our two concerts!
We regret that all who wanted to see us were not able and pledge
to provide more seating for our shows next year.

| If celebrity is common anywhere it is common in Los Angeles. Our hillside homes, our fashionable restaurants and exclusive shops are daily filled by the brightest stars of the film, television and music industries. Now The Los Angeles Balalaika Orchestra will share in some of our city's dazzling starlight.
To mark 2010, the 15th anniversary of our orchestra, we have teamed up with performers that have some serious star power. We will observe this happy occasion with champaign, confetti and a concert production exceptional even by our own sky-high standards. As always, we will feature some of the most remarkable instrumental virtuosi in the world, masters of the Russian domra and balalaika. | | This year though, their brilliance will be magnified by two acclaimed international opera stars. Our singers, who have appeared at La Scalla and The Met, will be mezzo-soprano Susana Poretsky and baritone Vladimir Chernov. They will be joined by Tamara Volskaya, considered by many to be the greatest performer on the four-stringed domra. The LA Balalaika Orchestra, already a great light in the Southern California musical firmament, shines this year brighter than ever! |
